Interview with Henry L. Richter, Jr. / by Russell Castonguay.

Dr. Henry L. Richter, Jr., former head of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Space Instruments Section, describes his work on the early Explorer satellites and his involvement in tracking the Soviet Sputnik satellites. He also participated in the development of the Microlock tracking system. In 1958, he attended an International Geophysical Year (IGY) conference in the Soviet Union where scientists shared data on the IGY satellites.
